What the 2025 figures show
The Danish Gambling Authority’s report The Gambling Market in Numbers 2025, published on 29 June 2026, shows online casino as the largest sector of the Danish gambling market for the first time. Online-casino gross gaming revenue was DKK 4,309 million in 2025, 38% of a DKK 11.5 billion market, ahead of monopoly lotteries at DKK 3,492 million, which had held the top spot since the 2012 liberalisation. Online casino grew 12.1% (DKK 465 million) while betting fell 11.5%, monopoly lotteries 6.2%, slot machines 6.8% and land-based casinos 5.6%, and 73% of all gambling revenue now comes from online gambling. Slots made up 82% of online-casino revenue.
Two caveats matter for anyone comparing numbers. First, the 2025 report adjusts all years to the 2026 price level using GDP, excludes charity lotteries, and adds land-based bingo, so its figures differ from earlier editions. Second, the report deliberately omits the channelisation rate (the share of online gambling on licensed sites), because the Authority is quality-assuring its figures and expects to publish a separate report later in 2026; any figure for 2025 channelisation quoted elsewhere should be treated as unconfirmed until that report appears.

The Authority did not publish its channelisation rate (the share of online gambling on sites with a Danish licence) in the 2025 report because it is working to ensure the quality of existing figures in the field, expects to publish a separate report on the rate later in 2026, and therefore also did not compare Danish gambling spend with other European countries.
